Baking for Britain

Especially for those who luv cooking / baking. This site looks good but I need to try baking according to the receipes. I was having the traditional biscuits (honey & oat) I bought from Harrods during my holiday and colleagues said that's really delicious. ahmm - that's v true if you're in a not-very-hot weather and feeling super bored in office. hahaha.

So I tried to find the receipes and failed but I got this. Maybe I should try:

"This is an extremely tough duck with a lot of spirit to live," he said. "This shows how tough and adaptable wildlife are."

I read this news from BBC. Not to search for it intentionally but its among the most popular news.

hahaha!!!

Duck survives two days in fridge

The duck's slow metabolism is thought to have helped it survive

A duck in the US state of Florida has survived gunshot wounds and a two-day stint in a refrigerator.

A hunter shot the duck, wounding it in the wing and leg. Believing the bird was dead, he left it in his fridge at his home in Tallahassee.

The hunter's wife got a fright when she opened the fridge and the duck lifted its head, a local veterinarian said.

Staff at the Goose Creek Animal Sanctuary who are treating the bird said it has a 75% chance of survival.

The plucky duck was taken first to a local animal hospital, and then to an animal sanctuary for more specialised treatment.

A veterinarian at the sanctuary said he thinks the duck will live, but will probably never be well enough to be released into the wild.

The veterinarian, David Hale, said the duck's low metabolism rate helped it survive its time in the refrigerator, the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper reported.

"This is an extremely tough duck with a lot of spirit to live," he said. "This shows how tough and adaptable wildlife are."

Battle between Morality and Money: 鐘南山警告:人流感和禽流感可能同時爆發!

I got this line from the following link:

http://www.peacehall.com/news/gb/china/2007/01/200701161107.shtml

Actually I still think that this year we at least might have some wider spread of bird flu. SARS - hope that its not coming. However, it could be conflicting.

Why conflicting?

Somehow I could hardly distinguish whether we do not hope that they are coming or we hope to get money from stock market or from property market because of these diseases - that is - to hope that they would come - and thus we would have a chance to get more $$.

I had some chats with frenz and some share the same thought of mine that in 2007 there might be some diseases in Hong Kong and thus we'd get stocks or properties at that time 'cos the stock and property market should drop dramatically.

To analyze our psychological status towards this, I could put them in the following points:
  • We do not want to see people die or got infected of bird flu or SARS or similar disease
  • We want to earn money, most likely from stock and property market
  • If bird flu and/or SARS come to Hong Kong, its expected that the stock and property market would drop
  • We could earn money by buying in stock and property when the market is down
Then the problem is, how we could balance this in our mind? That's the battle between morality and money. I guess that's good enuf to initiate a discussion inside our innermost.
