Pictures from Seoul

I'm leaving Shanghai now for home - and it shouldn't be too late to post my picture from Seoul. I've just left Seoul on Wednesday and its a stop of my tight schedule. Seoul - its a bit disappointing that its far to be regarded as a place which it'd be close to Tokyo in terms of its lifestyle, trendiness (do we really have this word?).

Yet - I really find that the Korean food in Hong Kong is already very close to the authentic Korean food - as I mentioned in the previous writing.

However, Koreans are good and I think they are more willing to share with you how they think than Japanese. So I should learn some Japanese - at least I'd understand what they are talking about even though they do not tell me what they are thinking. Sometimes those 'gwei-lo' books about how to understand Asians might help as well. Hong Kong people are a bit more westernized already and when we interact with people from other Asian countries its still necessary to know more about them and to adopt to their culture.

These pics were taken at the place closed to Hyundai Department Store. It's one of the busiest area in Seoul.

ahmm - sigh - while I'm typing up this article here on the blog I saw 2 HK people 'sucking' cup noodles like pigs in airport lounge. Yuk! Despite of the good economy of Hong Kong, Hong Kong people still have to work hard on their own esp. on their courtesy and thoughtfulness.

Ginseng Chicken Soup

This is the Ginseng Chicken Soup I had tonight (or yesterday?). It looks great isn't it? I had that at a shop specialized in Ginseng Chicken Soup in COEX Mall in Seoul. It tastes good and its just KRW10,000 (HKD83.25 equivalent!). COEX Mall is at the very central location of Seoul and its in the Gangnam-gu (강남구 / 江南區). It is an upscale community. Things are ok there but still - Hong Kong - I always think Hong Kong is really good. The more places I go the more I like Asia, I like Hong Kong.

Anyway. I'd say Hong Kong's Korean food is very authentic already, although a bit pricey when compared with Korean restaurants here in Seoul.

When I see the white and milky soup I recalled a fren said that chicken soup in Chinese cuisine which are claimed to be made in the 'old way' is that the soup is cooked with chicken skin. That's exactly what it is here. haha - I won't say that it is a must-try but its really good for me to travel around and have good food during biz trip!
