You have to ask

Today I learn something from the sermon in the Mass. Its very good esp. to me.

Its the sermon by Fr Roman Carter of Dominican.

He said that we have to ask God what we wants but we just have to ask.
Why it stroke me is because he said - one day a man came to him and said he feels miserable for all these years - then as a Father he might not know what exactly this man wants him to help.

But if the man said, he's feeling miserable and he wants the Father to pray for him. That's much more clear. Isn't it?

Same applies in our prayer. Its true that God knows what we are asking for, but if we don't say it clearly / explicitly, is it the right way to pray and expect God would help us automatically?

It is also shown from the Bible Verse of the Day in facebook.com:

Matthew 7:7
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
